When a prisoner in California is relocated from a level four security facility (e.g. Mule Creek, Pelican Bay, High Desert) they are allowed to see the sky at night for the first time since they were arrested. Prisoners describe marveling at the night sky for weeks after being moved to a lower security facility.

We selected the constellation Ursa Minor – the little dipper – as our logo. Successful reentry requires not only one point of support, but a constellation. Ursa Minor is the only constellation that contains the North Star, and we hope to provide similarly dependable guidance to prisoners throughout California.
